The CIA is Meddling in USAID

There's a place in foreign policy for soft power. But the CIA is mucking that up. And it's endangering US government employees at the same time.

A small government agency called the US Agency for International Development has been very much in the news lately. President Donald Trump has called for USAID to be defunded and shuttered. Elon Musk, the head of something called the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, despite the fact that it has no Congressional authorization, no Congressional appropriation, and a staff of five men in their early 20s, has taken it upon himself to close the agency on the president’s behalf. That’s actually not very controversial, regardless of what the Washington Post or the New York Times might want you to believe.
